Tell us if your circumstances have changed or you need to make changes to your school application.
Changes in your circumstances
You need to tell us immediately if there are changes in your circumstances that affect your application. Let us know if:
- you have moved home
- your child's sibling has left or joined a school you've applied to
- your child has left a feeder school
If you do not tell us about changes, we may withdraw your school offer. If you're unsure if a change affects your application, please
contact us.
If you're moving home
You must let us know if you move house before your child starts at their new school.
We can only update your address once you've moved into the new property and you've sent us evidence.
When to send evidence
You should send us evidence as soon as you have it and no later than a month after you've moved.
You should send us the evidence by:
- 28 February 2025 for primary schools
- 31 December 2024 for secondary schools
If you submit evidence after these dates, we will not be able to take it into account until after offer day.
Some schools have earlier deadlines for making changes. Check if these dates apply on each
school's admissions policy.
What evidence we'll need
You'll need to
email us evidence that you have left your old property and evidence of your new address.
To show you have left your previous address send us a copy of (one of the following):
- an exit utility bill (gas, electricity, water, landline phone)
- a completion of sale document
- a landlord notice to leave
To show you have moved to your new address send us a copy of (one of the following):
- tenancy agreement for a rented property
- house purchase completion (not exchange)
If you do not have the evidence
If you do not have these documents, send us as much evidence as possible to show you've moved house. You should also explain why you do not have them.
We will review it and make a decision about whether this evidence is enough.
Changing the schools you've applied for
Making changes after a national closing date can mean that your application is treated with lower priority than applications submitted on time. This reduces your chances of being offered a place at your preferred school.
You must email us to:
- change the schools you've applied for
- change your preference order
If you make the above changes in our online portal, they will not be processed.
If your
circumstances have not changed, you will need to let us know by:
- 12 February 2025 for primary schools
- 28 November 2024 for secondary schools
Some schools have earlier deadlines for making changes. Check if these dates apply on each
school's admissions policy.
