Leeds City Council is consulting on a proposal to change the age range of Rothwell Victoria Junior School from ages 7 to 11 to ages 4 to 11. If approved the change of age range would take affect from September 2025.
The consultation will run from 25 February 2025 until 17 March 2025. During this time there will be public consultation sessions to find out more, ask questions and share your views with the Local Authority (LA), including suggestions or alternative plans you would like the LA to consider. Your views will help us shape the next important steps and so we encourage you to talk to us during the consultation.
Why we are proposing this
The school currently provides places for pupils in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6. The council is proposing that the school provides places for pupils from Reception to Year 6 to help manage primary school places in the local area.
If the proposal were to be approved, it would lead to Rothwell Victoria accepting infant school pupils (Reception, Year 1 and Year 2) in time for the start of the next academic year in September 2025.
Public consultation
The consultation will be open from Tuesday 25 February 2025 until 5pm on Monday 17 March 2025.
Consultation sessions
There will be two public consultation sessions as follows:
- Monday 3 March, 6pm - an in-person meeting at Rothwell Victoria Junior School
- Friday 7 March, midday to 1pm - an online session
You will be able to attend either or both meetings. The joining instructions for the online meeting will be shared by the school at the start of the consultation or you can request to join the meeting by emailing us.
Online survey
You can give us your views by completing our online survey from Tuesday 25 February 2025 until 5pm on Monday 17 March 2025.
