We are committed to open government and the pro-active release of the information we hold.
We have voluntarily been releasing information since the 1980s and the website already contains a substantial amount of information and individual documents.
The Freedom of Information Act requires every public authority to adopt and maintain a publication scheme and to publish information in accordance with the scheme. The council's publication scheme is intended to be a guide to the information which we routinely publish.
Our publication scheme has been approved by the Information Commissioner, who is responsible for promoting good practice and ensuring compliance with Freedom of Information (FOI) and Data Protection laws.
Find more on the Information Commissioner's Office website.
Not all information the council publishes is detailed in the publication scheme. You can make an FOI request to view any information that is not routinely published, with some exemptions.
For more details or to make a request please see our Freedom of Information request page.
