Fantastic plastic

We know that recycling can be pretty confusing, but let's get things clear (or multicoloured!), most of the fantastic plastic things from your weekly shop can be recycled in your green bin once empty.

Yes please - green bin

Recycle all these types of plastic in your green bin:

Plastic bottles and cartons

(Leave any caps, lids or triggers on and they will get recycled too!)

  • drinks bottles
  • milk bottles
  • cooking oil bottles
  • cleaning product bottles
  • skincare, shampoo and soap bottles
  • milk, juice, coconut and soya cartons
  • tomato and custard cartons

Plastic containers and film lids

  • yoghurt pots
  • butter and margarine tubs
  • ice cream tubs
  • sweet and chocolate tubs
  • fruit punnets
  • meat and veg trays
  • film lids from plastic containers, including resealable film lids
  • cling film

Plastic bags and wrap

  • bread bags
  • toilet and kitchen roll wrapping
  • bubble wrap
  • stretchy fresh or frozen fruit and vegetable bags
  • carrier bags
  • stretchy wrapping from food tins and drinks can multipacks
  • breakfast cereal liners

Plastic packets and pouches (not foil-lined)

  • dried fruit and snack packets
  • salad, pasta and rice bags
  • biscuit and cracker packets
  • chocolate wrappers and sweet packets
  • laundry, detergent and cleaning product pouches
  • microwavable food pouches, such as rice

No thanks - black bin

Put these in your black bin:

  • black plastic
  • compostable and biodegradable plastic
  • crisp packets
  • foil-lined plastic, for example, crisp packets and chocolate bar wrappers
